A Free Afternoon

Well it’s hard to imagine what I would do with a free afternoon because they don’t seem to exist. If it’s a day off from school there is cleaning to be done. A day off from work there is homework or studying. There is never a day when I can sit back and say, "Today is my day, I can do what I want." But truthfully if I had a free afternoon I would take a trip to the spa. Spend time on me and just relax. Forget about the paper due in two days or the extra hours I need to pick up at work or the laundry that needs to be done. I would like to escape from it all.

Roller Coasters vs Life

Personally I’m terrified of roller coasters but for some unknown reason I always find myself drifting towards them. Whether it be my older sisters love for them or her constant teasing, before I know it I’m strapping myself into the coaster and feel my heart sink as we inch towards the sky. But now I realize that this does represent my approach on life. All new things in life are scary. But once you have the courage to make those changes the next part becomes quite enjoyable. Just realizing that after every difficult climb there is a place of happiness makes it all worth it. And as in life, I’m always glad that I went for the ride because of that awesome feeling I get in my stomach. ☺

Early Memory

Well I've been reading since I was in kindergarten but I've only started to enjoy books until recently. Before I used to read because I had to for school. Sometimes I'd read my own books but I wouldn't really understand them. Now that my vocabulary has grown and I know how to find deeper meanings and themes and such I can really get into books.

During freshman and sophomore year I found the author Sarah Dessen. She writes books about and for teens and young adults. Her books always have relatable characters and can really hook you. These books are the kind of books that you just can't put down and you forget about everything else and all you want to is read the book.

I love reading fiction books because even though he characters are fabricated and the stories are made up they are still relatable. I've always been a quiet and shy person so when I read these books it allows me to escape reality and be different characters that I know I could never be like in real life. It creates a sanctuary where I'm free to be whoever I want to be.
